Charles Kenneth West

November 27, 1942 ~ March 14, 2013

 

Born to Maxine and Charles William West – November 27, 1942, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Ken moved at the age of 13 to Pleasant Grove, with his family.  At age 70, he passed away in his home in Salt Lake City, March 14, 2013. 

Ken and Vickie Phelps, were married in the Salt Lake Temple –June 2, 1967.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and is survived by his eternal companion Vickie, their six children: Stephen (Kristi) West (St. George), Michelle  (Jim) Brau (Springville), Mark (Jessica) West (Tallahassee, FL), Mari (Dan) Topham (Eagle Mountain), Jeanna  (Beau) Bromley (Eagle Mountain), Suzi (Tom) Kranz (Sugar House); 14 grandchildren, sister Barbara  (Darwin) Eggli (SLC), brother Robert (Nancy) West (Provo), and many nieces and nephews. 

 

Ken graduated from Pleasant Grove High School, served an LDS Mission to Hawaii where he loved the people and experiences he had there.  He trained for and served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves.  He attended BYU and served as Vice President of Delta Phi Kappa.  Ken worked in commercial and industrial real estate, was an accomplished dental ceramist, and spent the last few years of his life dedicating himself to his family history.  He achieved his personal goal of preparing over 2300 family names for temple ordinances.

 

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 1:00 p.m.  in the Olpin Family Mortuary, 494 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove.  Family and friends may attend a viewing from 11:30 – 12:45 p.m. prior to the services.  Interment will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery.  Condolences may be sent to the family at www.olpinmortuary.com.
